Hey guys! I hope you are all adjusting well to the new season approaching and getting your fall/winter closets ready. Though we're in the middle of "panoramic" as Gunna says, it doesn't mean we stop serving looks. The looks never stop. Period. So I know I've been doing some styling palettes as of late but I wanted to switch it up for you all. With this post some I'll be making some styling palettes based on trends for F/W 2020. The current circumstances in the world may have made these trends a bit harder to identify, but living here in New York I still have the pleasure of seeing some amazing looks, daily. These items range from over sized denim, fun print/patterned pants, cropped cardigans, mules, midi/long skirts, thigh high boots, and more. I'll most likely be posting a part 2 and 3 of this just because there's a lot of different looks I want to cover. Let me know what you guys think of Part 1!

Trend #1 Cropped Cardigan / Midi Skirt / High Boot

Cardigan: Helmut Lang $370

Skirt: Ganni $345

Bag: Kwaidan Editions $1120

Boot: Maryam Nassir Zadeh $890

This look is the epitome of F/W. The brown hues, textures and boots all mesh so well to create the perfect palette. I love how this skirt reminds me of a grandmother's rug; this fit has a sense of hominess to it.

Trend #2 Oversized Cardigan / Midi Skirt / Mules

Bra: Isa Boulder $110

Cardigan: Julia Heur $895

Skirt: Sacai $660

Earrings: Panconesi $260

Mules: Lauren Manoogian $390

Let me just say I love love loveee these earrings. I felt they tied in the entire fit and added just enough color. They also contain all the colors of this really fun patterned cardigan while still tying in this nude theme the look has. Mules are another item I've noticed are becoming very popular. They're fuzzy and comfy... what more can you really ask for?

Trend #3 Oversized Cardigan Dress / Thigh High Chunky Boots

Cardigan Dress: DRAE $315

Necklace: Alyx $320

Earrings: Numbering $140

Bag: Ader Error $260

Boots: Alyx $805

What I love about this fit is how I made it very dark and edgy compared to how this dress would typically be worn. This fit is perfect for a late dinner with friends or an event where you want to be scene and take some cute pics. These Alyx boots are so sexy, giving me a Matrix feel. I added the silver detail to add to the overall dark aesthetic of this look.

Trend #4 Cropped Cardigan / Pattern Jeans / Chunky Boot

Cardigan: Wandering $430

Necklace: Justine Clenquet $165

Pants: Collina Strada $400

Boots: Telfar $865

For look 4 I had a couple of colors to play around with. I had shades of pink, yellow, brown, green, etc. For that reason I decided to keep the accessories to a minimum and use a dainty brown necklace to tie in the whole look. Also this cropped cardigan by Wandering is definitely an item I need in my closet. It comes in 3 different colors so you'll probably see this in another palette of mine. The pops of yellow in the pants is brought out in this playful yellow top. Pant over boot is how I envision this look.

Trend #5 Cardigan / Pattern Jeans

Cardigan: Alexander Wang $595

Earrings: Safsafu $255

Pants: Collina Strada $400

Shoes: Bottega Veneta $600

Look 5 is so playful with a sense of nostalgia for me. These Collina patterned jeans remind me of a coloring book or something we would draw in art class. I need these, expeditiously. To add to the playful feel of this look I added these smiley face Safsafu earrings. I kept the top neutral toned because of the heavy graphic in the jeans, and brought color back in the Bottega boots. These boots are also a super trendy item right now, and though I'm not one for trends they go so well with this look; the perfect pink shade.

I had a lot of fun creating these looks for fall/winter themes of 2020 and I'll definitely be back with more soon. I would really love if you guys interacted and commented on which looks are your favorite and why. It's provides me with insight and ideas for future posts.

Talk soon guys!

Hey guys, I wanted to check in and do a post about mental health and maintaining a positive work-rest balance as an artist/creative. Often in our young 20's we feel we may not be doing enough, or either we are doing too much, and start to feel burnt out. It can all be overwhelming and leave you feeling anxious, stressed and scatter-brained. Also 2020 has just been HECTIC overall, so that doesn't help either. So much has happened in this year that will literally shape us and our future.

Yes, we're still young so we should be grateful to still be able to fail and learn from it, whether it be with your career, relationships, friendships, jobs, projects, etc. We still have time. I think that's something we often forget; we still have time. Nevertheless, as much I constantly try to remind myself of this I can't help but feel like I'm not doing enough. How do we find the happy medium between rest/work?

I'm honestly still trying to figure this out myself. I can say one thing that helps me be more motivated and productive is staying off Instagram as much as I used to. It's tough because as creatives, a lot of us use social media to our advantage to promote our work and projects to the public. So, taking a break from Instagram can sometimes feel like taking a break from your own self-promotion.On the other hand, allowing yourself to get wrapped in what others are doing and keeping up with others is really self-sabotage. But there are healthy ways to go about it. For instance:

  1. If you feel your spending too much time on your phone, specifically Instagram, but don't necessarily want to delete your account try putting the app in a folder and removing it from your home screen. It might sound silly or redundant to some but it has actually helped me a lot. When you don't see the app as soon as you unlock your phone, you'll have to physically type and search it in. It makes you reconsider if you really need to log on.

  2. I've been trying to go on Instagram and post things that only pertain to my brand and business. I feel like this gives you a specific tasks to do rather than just going on the app to scroll for minutes-hours. Honestly there's really no need for it; no one's life is actually that interesting if we're being honest!

  3. Setting a sleep schedule for yourself. This brings structure to at least one part of your life and also helps plan your day a bit better. This is probably my biggest struggle as I'm sure it is with lots of you, but when this schedule is established it truly does help everything else flow a little bit smoother.

So these are my 3 solutions for limiting social media usage in order to be more productive (lol) but it's honestly a great start! I promise y'all. These ideas force you to think of other things to do rather than sit on your phone, and also helps with the feeling of being unorganized. Hopefully I can make a part 2 in the future and give you guys some more options.

On the topic of needing a break, mentally or physically I suggest taking days where you literally just rest, and heavy on the rest your mind. Rest your brain, rest your thoughts. Also:

  1. Get a journal, if you often feel anxious. Sometimes we don't want to discuss our mental health with our family and friends so having a journal is a great option to let out your feelings. This works really good for me especially when I feel my anxiety sinking in and I can't get my words out, out loud. Having your words out in the open on paper feels great. After you finish you feel lighter and as if your voice and truth is being heard. It's also nice when you're able to flip through your journal and see the progress you've made, especially mentally. It's a beautiful feeling!

2. Invest in some crystals and spiritual rocks! This idea may seem frightening and give witch craft vibes to some but I promise these stones will add a ton of comfort and balance to your life. Just having them around you and wearing them brings instant comfort, I swear. I like to keep my stones and crystals in one area in my room since that's where I spend most of my time. Setting up your own little crystal shop gives you a safe space to visit when you start feeling alone and anxious. If you're new to crystals that's okay; I'm still learning myself. I simply went to my local spiritual shop and picked out ones I felt drawn to. I then did my own research to understand what they mean and how they're relative to my life. It's such an intimate experience with self and spirit. 10/10 recommend you visit a shop! Some crystals/stones I own are Amethyst, Black Onyx, the evil eye bracelet, Chakra bracelet, and more.

3. I know this is one that's been a big theme in everyone's lives as late, but doing more self care activities really does help! For example, if you know you need to relax your mind, go on and Groupon and get you a massage sis! If you want that seafood boil and don't have anyone to go with, go take yourself on a date! This goes for men and women. Loving and treating yourself is really the first step to receiving that love in return. Take yourself on a spa day, get those boots you been eyeing for the past month (only if you have the bread though let's keep it responsible), take yourself on a picnic date. Waiting on others to satisfy you only leaves you feeling half full.

I know these ideas may be common or on the other hand uncommon to some, but they're simple ideas I feel can help someone out there. Hopefully I can come up with a part 2 when I come up with some more ways for us all to focus and unwind. Talk to you guys soon!

Featuring Artist: Mushu

Twitter: @13000Mushu

IG: @notmushu

Hey guys, I'm super super superrrr excited to be writing this today. I got one of my favorite artists to be on my blog and it means a whole lot to me! What other time to feature his work than Scorpio season, (he's a Scorpio if that wasn't obvious) and during Halloweekend?! We love divine timing!!

I discovered Mushu through Twitter where he posts most of his work; I instantly fell in love and started following him right away. For the interview I told him I'd feature about 5-7 of my favorite pieces of art but there's honestly too many I love to chose from.. so there's more like 20 included (lol). It's an honor being able to speak with someone whose art literally speaks to you on an emotional level. With that being said, let's get into this interview!!

Interview

So for starters, what's your name & where were you born?

Mushu: Maxwell Xavier Wirta, born in NC.

How did you get into making the artwork you do? When did you start?

Mushu: I got into art work through going through my moms sketch books for fashion school, I started creating really young. First time I really remember asking for a sketch book was 3rd grade.

A lot of people, including myself, feel very connected to your artwork. It seems to come from a place of hopeless love or romance, with a dark sided twist. How would you describe your work?

Mushu: I don’t like to describe my work because some of the pieces that people perceive as dark are actually not that to me when I make them. I create the characters you see free of name free of gender free of class so that anyone can look at it and relate to it whether they see themselves in it or something else. For the sake of this being my 2nd ever interview I’ll give a little insight though. Demons were once angels. But is what I’m drawing even demons. Angels can’t be related to because they’re too perfect and have unwavering blind faith and do what is told. So what do people as humans relate to the most.

That's an interesting concept, differentiating between angels and demons. Now that I think about it as humans, which side do we resonate with more...

Where do you get inspiration from?

Mushu: I get my inspiration from my day today mainly from people and music. Lessons taught in anime and games, from my thoughts when I’m inside my own head. Fun fact I never know what I’m drawing I just start drawing, I find a song I resonate to and just create.

You’ve had a lot of traction within these past few months from Twitter, which is how I discovered you. How does it feel to be receiving so much love from fans right now?

Mushu: The influx of support and love lately is amazing because my goal as a artist is being unfolded in front of me. My goal as an artist is to make you feel as if you have a friend in me. That when you look at my art me and you the reader of this are now having a conversation. I’m venting to you, updating you on my life and letting you know what’s going on. With that, that means anyone that sees my work and supports my work all have one mutual friend me. That means that you’re not alone. My goal with my work is to make you feel not alone and to help you express yourself however you interpret my work there’s no wrong answer which is why I don’t give my own.

I definitely feel deeply connected to your work and feel it's helped me express my own feelings through pictures rather than words. I've definitely sent your pictures to people when I wasn't sure how to actually type out my own words and emotions. I love that that's one of your goals with your artwork. What are some of your favorite pieces you’ve created so far and why?

Mushu: My favorite pieces are the ones I haven’t posted the ones I create with my hands while painting. They much more raw it’s chaotic.

What has been the best part of your creative journey so far? The hardest part?

Mushu: The best part is the people and I could right a whole essay on that in itself so I won’t get to far into it but the answer is the people. I don’t think I have a answer for what’s the worst part. I believe everything happens that’s supposed to happen so I have gratitude for everything good and bad in my life I’m grateful for it all.

Where do you want to take “controlled chaos” in the next few years? Any new art ventures ?

Mushu: Cntrlledchaos will not be forever in the next few years I’ll lay it to rest. Cntrlledchaos is the process of what I’m going through right now and what every upcoming artist goes through. That’s all I’m going to say on that cause like I stated earlier I don’t like explaining the meaning to what I do that’s for you to interpret yourself.

What is your favorite quality/characteristic about yourself?

Mushu: I honestly hate speaking up on myself but I would say recently I can put myself in someone else’s shoes very well.

If you could leave the readers with any words of advice, what would it be?

Mushu: Don’t think too hard thinking hard is the downfall of a lot of people even myself. Live in the moment don’t live in the past/ in future. Follow your heart not your brain. Belief has to start with you.
