Hey guys! I'm here with another segment of Fit Check. Today I want to get into the details of a past look of mine, shot by my friend @liqqy on Instagram. The look was for a random link up that I ended up really loving. I wanted to include on here and discuss a little bit about the use of color for this. Whenever my friends call you and tell you get dressed that's exactly what imma do!
THE LOOK
Cropped Jacket: Moncler
Pants: Maison Margiela found on cettire.com
Paired with White AF1, silver belt chain, handmade pearl necklace and Vivienne Westwood necklace
For this look I really wanted to play with color yet still make sure everything meshed. Because I had so much color going on with the top and pants, I used all neutral tone accessories like the chain, white tank and white sneaker.
Personally my favorite part of this look, sweater specifically is the detail of the sleeve. I got this "jacket" at a Moncler sample sale about two years back and haven't let it go since. It's very unique to me and a piece in my closet that can be alternated through the seasons. The fact that it's cropped yet a super warm fabric makes it a fall, winter and spring piece in one. It took me a while to find a fit I loved for it, but this one turned out really well!
What I love about these pants is how bright and light weight they are. (I would've included the link for them but they're no longer available :/) They're such a comfortable pant yet still a great piece in the closet. The looks for these pants are honestly endless; this is just the first one I've created.
Let me know what you guys think of this look and the use of color in it; this is definitely one of my top 5 looks for 2020! Talk soon!
Hey guys! So I've been thinking of some content I can include on the blog to keep it interesting and lively for you all. I also would love for you guys to let me know topics you find interesting and would like to see more of. One thing I'm going to include are brands that I love, this week's focus being the Berlin brand Ottolinger. The fashion brand was founded in 2016 by the fem duo, Swiss designers Christa Bosch and Cosima Gadient who play as the brand's creative directors as well. Side note, Cosima Gadient just so happens to be a Pisces so no wonder why I fell extra in love with the brand!

The creativity and uniqueness of this brand is everything for me. The two often describe their brand as sexy meets sci-fi which is evident in their strappy shoulder details, burn holes and imperfect cut outs. The duo loves to play and take risks with fabrics, textures, colors and shapes which makes them stand out from the others.
From the images above you can see they like to play with the thought of reconstruction. This middle dress is one of my faves. The cream color, detailed and hanging thin cut fabric is perfection. It kind of gives me a Rick Owens feel, but still true to the Ottolinger aesthetic. Brand designers Bosch and Gadient also emphasize the importance of arts and crafts, and how it's the basis of any great creative project. As we know art influences a range of things like fashion, cooking, music, pop culture, architecture and more. For arts and crafts to be such a huge drive tells you how important thinking outside of the box is for this duo.
Besides the clothing, the accessories for this brand are just phenomenal. For them to even come up with such works of art blows my mind. For me I was never bias or choosy over brands. I always appreciate the uniqueness of brands that clearly have a mind of their own, especially in today's fashion culture. A lot of the fashion we see now n days isn't even fashion, more so trends and biting off others. A brand that focuses on being honest and creative on their own terms is super important, and also rare!!
No wonder my mother named me Sanauva-Nique (telling me she named me Sanauva and just took the U off unique making it Sanauva-Nique, knowing I'd be one of a kind). She was definitely onto something with that!
But back to these accessories, ... they are literal works of art, like something straight out of a museum.
Brands that steer away from the norm catch my eye the most, which is why I love Ottolinger so much. These bags are so pretty I wouldn't even wanna wear it; I'd just stare at it on my living room table all day. In an interview with Tank Magazine, they ask the Ottolinger duo where the idea of silicone dipping accessories comes from, and what it represents. The crey respond by saying, 'It's the imperfection with which we are so fascinated: the line where something is still perfect and yet not. Like umami, not sweet, but not sour.'
That's definitely a great analogy to describe the brand. Right when you think you know what you're getting from their pieces.. BOOM... they throw in extra flavor, extra color, extra texture. Something to throw you off but in such a tasteful and appealing way. What's not to love about this brand?
For the brand to only be almost 5 years old, they are definitely one to keep an eye out for. If you love brands that take risks with shapes and texture this is 100% the brand for you.

Hey guys! I'm not sure if you all peeped the new collab that dropped last week (rereleased on SNKRS Dec. 15) but these sneakers are to die for! Well known skatewear/streetwear brand Stussy teamed up with Nike to create their own take on one of the most well-known sneakers, the AF1. There's been many takes on this sneaker but this one is definitely in my top 3. The stitching and woven material on the Black colorway and "Fossil Stone" colorway is so different than anything I've seen before, and on this shoe specifically.
The sneaker also features heavy stitching on the Nike swoosh, leather interior with the Stussy logo on the tongue. and a double S logo on the back of the sneaker.
If you were able to cop a pair last week or yesterday I am jealous! The Fossil colorway specifically is so pretty, and such a great color for all 4 seasons. Stussy really did their thing with this, down to each and every detail. If you're interested and still want a pair despite crazy resale prices, check out StockX for more!
