Creative of the Week: Skunt

IG: https://www.instagram.com/skuntflower/

Helloo my brothers and sisters! I am back with another segment of Feature Friday and I'm super excited to introduce y'all to a cool and super wavy friend of mine, A (as I refer to her). A and I became very good friends over the past year, and though we aren't as close anymore, she is doing some pretty amazing things and I love that for her. She can design clothes, skate, get lite and now decided to take a route down the active wear lane. A young black woman with many talents; we love to see it!! With that being said, let me present you all with a brief yet fun convo between A and I. Enjoy!!

Interview

Me: "So A, please state your name (or preferred name), age, where you were born, ethnicity, and where you're currently living."

Aa: "I go by Skunt or Aa, I'm 23, born in Manhattan NY, Black, and living in Harlem."

Me: "What are some of your goals/ aspirations as a creative?"

Aa: "My goal is to have an Aactive wear store, something better than At*leta (A trying to get me sued, had to add the *). I also wanna have an establishment for young teens/ adults to come express themselves through creative outlets."

Me: "I love that for you. I can totally see you being great at being a tutor/ positive influence on young women. What is your favorite part about being from NYC?"

Aa: "The melting pot culture. You’re never really stuck in one place in New York City."

Me: "I definitely second that. No matter how you feeling you can literally go out and experience anything you want. What’s been your greatest accomplishment living here so far?"

Aa: "Starting a new brand, Aactive and giving that 100%."

Aactive top

Me: "What's the hardest part about being a creative in NYC? The best part?"

Aa: "The best part is if you're genuine and dedicated to whatever you do, you'll be tapped in with other genuine people who love what they do. The hardest/ worst part is niggas be hating, malicious and greedy."

Me: "Niggas most definitely be moving hella malicious. I feel you. Shout out to everybody on genuine timing though. So since you've been in New York your whole life, have you considered moving elsewhere? Or is this where you wanna stay?"

Aa: "I wanna move, but I'm established enough here that I can move and always come back here."

Me: "Okay, gotcha. So onto Skuntstitch, another brand of yours that goes crazy! How long have you been designing the brand? And why did you start it?"

Aa: "I started in 2017, but started taking it serious in 2018. I started it because I was tired of going outside getting dressed up and everybody was cozy, I wanted to make something cozy myself. So I decided to make my own clothes. Then everyone started to love what I was making."

Me: "Your clothes are definitely eye catching and unique. The Pu$$y pants you made that I shot in went stoopid on my IG. I never had that much engagement before lol. We love clothes that bring in conversation!! So aside from Skuntstitch, what made you get into active wear and why? Also, where do you see the Aactive wear brand going?"

Aa: "If I'm not skating I'm dancing. I like to workout and I’m always very active, so it only made sense to start it. I’d like to open a store in New York with 'twerksercise' classes, and cute Aactive wear for everybody."

Me: "That definitely makes sense. My good sis stays very productive! So these last two questions are asked by all my guests. So, what is your favorite feature about yourself and why?"

Aa: "I got a lot. But top 1 is my mind and my personality. My personality because I can always adapt to everyone around me and I pick up energy so i already know wassup. And my mind because it helps me read the energy that determines my personality, and how I act and think around certain things and people."

Me: "If could leave the people with any words of encouragement what would it be?"

Aa: "Do whatever the fuck you want and don't let anybody deter you from doing what it is you wanna do, because FUCK EM."

*end of interview*

Okay guys, that's all I have for you today! I hope you guys can see A's personality through this interview because she is really a hilarious ass individual doing some pretty cool things. As A would say, stay sturdy I'll talk to you guys soon!

Hey guys, so I wanted to do another color palette, this time a blue one. I'll present you with 5 women's and 5 men's. Let me know which one is your fave!!

MEN'S LOOKS

Look 1

Hat: Marine Serre $455

Tee: Noah NYC $50

Sweater: Greg Lauren $1250

Pants: Marine Serre $1050

Shoes: Jil Sander $590

For look 1 there's definitely a lot going on with color and pattern. I decided to keep it basic with the white shirt and white shoes because of that. The mix of soft blues and white makes for the perfect color combo. The Marinne Serre bucket ties in the denim, adding a little flare to the overall look.

Look 2

Sweater: Charles Jeffrey Loverboy $560

Pants: Wooyoungmi $420

Sunglasses: Han Kjobenhavn $150

Boots: Undercover $975

I am in loveeee with this sweater for look 2. I kept the accessories pretty simple because of the wildness of the sweater, adding an orange-nude tone pair of sunglasses. Orange and blue mesh really well together so I added this blue colored boot to tie everything in.

Look 3

Top: FREI-MUT $1050

Pants: Boris Bidjan Saberi $1085

Hat: Gucci $430

Boots: Alexander McQueen $690

For this third look I kept it calm. The black and blue all compliment each other nicely throughout the fit. I really love the wash of these jeans, too. Alexander McQueen makes some of the best boots for men! So many of the looks I came up with included a pair of his shoes. Fellas get on this.

Look 4

Sweater: Random Identities $340

Denim: Levi's $245

Hat: Acne Studios $210

Boots: Rick Owens $1525

For look 4 I really love the nude color I added to the look. Between the bucket hat, the nude found in the sole of the Rick Owens, and in the sweater... it all blended together so well. The dark wash denim + nude is such a fire combo. I really love this fit. Perfect fall/winter fit, too.

Look 5

Sweater: We11done $635

Denim: Vetements $1950

Sunglasses: Dries van Noten $345

Necklace: Martine Ali $250

Shoes: Maison Margiela $475

Look 4 and 5 are definitely my top 2 favorite men's looks but I think 5 is my favorite. Coming up with men's fits is actually a lot more fun than I thought. I really love this one. That sweater for me can be worn by men and women; I love it. The color, the drape, the extended trim... it's beautiful. I also love this denim as well. The fit of the denim and detail on the knee is just enough to add a little "extraness" to this fit. I feel like the chain adds just the right amount of detail. This fit is perfection to me. I'd love to see a guy in this fit I'd go crazy!

WOMEN'S LOOKS

Look 1

Top: Mugler $850

Pants: Jil Sander $1450

Bag: YSL $1390

Bracelet: Saskia Diez $300

Earrings: Monies $95

Shoes: YSL $995

So this look is all about gold. Gold accessories really compliment this look, bringing it from bad to boujee. I love the accents and the synching on this Mugler top makes for a sexy, grown woman look.

Look 2

Dress: Louisa Ballou $450

Earrings: Fendi $545

Bracelet: Fendi $320

Bag: BY FAR $420

Heels: Amina Muaddi $900

This look is the perfect vacay fit. It's super sexy and giving me a jungle vibe with the browns and blues. This is a great tropical paradise date night fit. Drinks with the girls, Sunday brunch.. super cute look. I felt brown complimented the blue hues lovely. I would definitely wear this look on my next vacation destination. Also Amina Muaddi makes some of the prettiest heels!! Check her out on SSENSE if you haven't already. I believe she also did a collab with Rihanna for Fenty which is pretty cool!!

Look 3

Top: Maisie Wilen $450

Pants: Maison Margiela $595

Earrings: Sophie Buhai $375

Bag: Venczel $805

Shoes: Gucci $320

Ok, so look 3 is super cutesy girl vibes. It's a perfect lunch date fit or just to walk through Soho. The light blue Gucci sandals and pearl earrings are such a cute combo I love it. White and blue were definitely the prominent colors I wanted to focus on for this look. I'd say this is my favorite women's look.

Look 4

Top: Marine Serre $265

Pants: Mugler $1090

Bag: MM6 $175

Shoes: Bottega Veneta $880

Earrings: Mondo Mondo $290

This look has a lot of fun color and print going on but meshed together well in the end. I needed a way to bring these colors together which is why I added the earrings that had all the colors found in the outfit. This fit is giving me rich wife shopping with her gf's in Melrose. Or a nice dinner at Nobu. I love how fun yet sexy this fit is.

Look 5

Top: Ganni $105

Denim: Stella McCartney $595

Sneakers: R13 $1050

Bag: Off-White $1525

Hat: SJYP $175

For this last look I wanted to incorporate a more relaxed fit with sneakers. I really love the colors of this and these jeans are so fire. I love how they don't synch until the bottom' truly a fashion pant. This look could be worn for day-to-day activities, a picnic, a park walk, etc. The blue fur on the bag and fur on the hat is a perfect match!

Let me know which looks you guys love or hate! I'll be back soon with another color palette!

Hey guys, I decided to start making some fit collages to share with you, based on different colors and patterns. This week I wanna focus on nudes, neutrals and browns. I put some looks together, men and women that I personally love. Let me know which ones you guys love (or don't). Also majority of these items are based off different wish lists' of mine. So if anyone wants to know what I want or would wear here you go... feel free to do with that information as you please. Hehehehe

WOMEN'S LOOKS

Look 1

Ok so I really love these Chloe Boots. The color is so soft and pretty and it's like the perfect fall boot. This color and tone of the overall fit is so soft; every piece just meshes so well. The earrings with the slight color pop is just enough to keep everything together.

Look 2

So for look 2 I really loved how I mixed the neutral tone with the pop of color in the pants. These pants by Ahluwalia are such a versatile piece and literally go with anything in your closet. For me I chose the Helmut Lang top because of the gold and orange hues in the pants. I felt it was a nice compliment. Then these Stella boots are sooo fucking fire. These boots mixed with the dainty necklace and color pop earrings make the perfect balance. I love how the fit is bold yet subtle with the mix of neutrals and color.

Look 3

Look 3 is all about chic. Sexy and chic. The way this see-through Rick dress would fall over the skirt is beautiful. I picture it hanging over the skirt or either tucked on one side. This look is giving me date night vibes with a happy ending. Quick slip off dress. (maybe that's why they call it a slip dress hahahaha). Or just pull the skirt up real quick. Whatever floats your boat. The mix of the Bottega heels with the black lining paired perfectly with the black Staud bag. It's that subtle black detail for me. And this black pearl necklace just ties everything in.

Look 4

For look 4 I really wanted to do a sneaker look and I really love how this came out. These Margiela pants are too dieeeee for, omg. The plain khaki in the front with the yellow wording on the back, plussss the side cut slits. They are perfection in a pant. This pretty yellow Dolce top was a perfect match. I tied everything together with the bag and necklace adding some more color to the fit. I picture this as a museum fit or just strolling through the city. A nice low, middle part bun with the hoops would seal it all in.

Look 5

So for my last women's look I went for cozy vibes. I think this is probably my favorite look. It's calm and comfy but still has that fashion essence to it. I really love the earrings and necklace combo because it ties in the red that's on the women's tongue on the shirt. It looks like possible blood on her tongue which is also shown on the jewelry. Literally this was a perfect match. I'm really all about subtle detail and that's exactly what this fit captures. Then these slide-on shoes by Toga Pulla are fire. It gives the fit some detail with the spikes but still remains comfy because they are a slide-on shoe. I really really love this one.

MEN'S LOOKS

Look 1

Pants: Maison Margiela $

Let me start by saying I love this Undercover jacket. I know this color palette isn't as neutral as the vibe I set, but the mix of browns and light pink color tones did it for me. I had to include this jacket. If I could style my man he would definitely be in this jacket. Open up the jacket revealing the brown tee and you'll see how this fit all meshes. Mixing black and brown can get tricky but I feel I captured the overall look flawlessly.

Look 2

Denim: Sulvam $430

Shoes: Timbs (obvs) $120-$170

This look for me is the perfect fall fit. Good timbs with dark denim is a perfect combo. The gold ring is the only accessory this fit needs, matching the gold detail on the Timbs. This fit is good for a night out in the towns or city link ups.

Look 3

Shoes: Stussy x Birkenstock

I actually really love how laid back this fit is. This was probably my favorite men's look. I imagine your man pulling up to this for a picnic date or just an intimate night together. I'm also a sucker for big rings on men so I had to add the gold ring to top it off. The Gucci slacks give that playa playa vibe so I thought the gold detail was the perfect match for that. You can also throw on a pair of round or square shaped sunnies to add even more flare to this fit.

Look 4

So this look obvs focuses more on the brown color scheme. The suede vibe is perfect for fall. Open the jacket for a more relaxed look and it really sets off the Amiri's. Imagine your man pulling up to date night in this classy fit. The gworls gon love it, I'm tellin' ya.

Look 5

For my last men's look I wanted to do a cozy and chill vibe with slacks. This fit is giving me the men's version of my women's 5th look. Both over sized collared tops, slacks and slip-on shoes. If you wanna match with your boo one night these 5th looks are great options. I love 'em. The Stussy slip-ons are super popular right now so good luck trying to get your hands on them. If not, another brown or khaki colored slip-on will do just fine.

So these are my men's and women's look centered around that brown and nude color theme. I know these looks are pricey but it's more so to give you all outfit inspo and come up with your own versions of the looks I created. I would love to know which one was your fave (men and women)! Let me know! Leave some comments and hearts on here. Talk to you guys soon <3
