Hey guys, I'm here with another segment of Feature Friday. Today I have the opportunity of introducing you all to Adaeze, a fellow creative living here in NYC. It was a pleasure getting to know more about her behind her looks. I'm sure you've seen her on your Twitter and IG feed before! With no further introduction, let's welcome Adaeze to the chat!

Interview

Me: "Please tell the readers your name, age, where you were born, ethnicity, and where you live now."

Adaeze: "My name's Adaeze (pronounced Ah-dah-zay) , I'm 22, born in Flatbush, New York raised in Belize. I'm Belizean, Nigerian and Honduran."

Me: "Okay cool cool. So what's your favorite part of being from NYC? Do you think you'd live here forever?"

Adaeze: "My favorite part is the convenience and access we have here. When I go to other places I hate that they don't have delis & shit. Our mass transit system comes in hand, trains running every 5 mins, unlike other places. Deff would like to live in Italy. I used to live in Belize, so that's definitely where I see myself retiring and living and have my kids. But honestly I'd always want to have a spot here in New York. This shit is home."

Me: "Yea the convenience is definitely a vital characteristic of living in New York. Really makes life so much easier. How do you like to spend your free time out here?"

Adaeze: "Reading conspiracy theories, (I told her that's some Aquarius shit) online thrifting, looking up different shit for hours. Sometimes for me, sometimes shit I can see my friends. If you see me on my phone I'm online shopping."

Me: "I definitely can relate to that. I'm always creating big ass shopping carts of shit I know I'm gonna buy eventually lol. So onto the fashion aspect... in the creative industry, what type of creative would you say you are?"

Adaeze: "I'd say a model, getting into styling. I did my first styling shoot and it went through the fucking roof (s/o Black Twitter). I feel like I have a good eye for shit. A creative could be anything where you have a good eye for anything. Whether it be art, interior decorating.. shit architecture.. a good eye in anything."

Me: "Yea that shoot you styled was fyeee bro!! The background to the fit you chose, it all coordinated so well. The rugged background mixed with the classy fit got it! So if you could work with anyone in the world for modeling or styling, who’d it be?"

Adaeze: "Lil Kim and Aaliyah (if she was alive). Definitely a collab w Jordan, whether it be styling, creating my own sneaker, something along those lines id definitely love."

Me: "I can definitely see a Jordan collab for you. I'm almost positive you're gonna do that within the next year or two. And Lil Kim... that'd be fire too. All that is attainable too.

So Adaeze, I put your favorite looks you sent me throughout this interview, but I'm curious as to why you chose these? Would you mind telling the readers and I why these are your faves?"

Adaeze: "They're my favorite because I wasn't trying too hard. this is me on the regular, a lot of my pictures are a huge display of my self expression. From my hair to my bag to sneakers, that's just me being me. These pictures are just me in my natural habitat. When you don't think too much everything just comes together.

Me: "That's 100% true. Nothing good ever comes from overthinking. I for sure had to learn that lol. How would you describe your style/aesthetic of what you wear?"

Adaeze: "My style is somewhere b/w late 90-early 2000’s. A lil bit towards Bape/Nigo era. i also dress like a old Caribbean man. I love me some vintage Bob Marley T-shirts and some old basketball t shirts; chill island girl vibe. I love meaningful T-shirts as well, and jewelry. For example, all my jewelry is name plated or has significant meaning to me."

Me: "The influence of Nigo is definitely shown throughout your looks. And you always pull it off. So Adaeze, if you could accomplish one thing while you’re living, what would it be?"

Adaeze: "Definitely positive influence and inspire others esp the younger kids coming up. i feel like kids these days are exposed to a lot of sexual things and when i was younger I wasn't. While embracing your sexuality is cool, wearing what you want etc... girls who wear clothes is cool too. If i could inspire one person to be themselves n be original , that would just make me so happy."

Me: "Yes kids, be yourself, no pressure to impress anyone!! Speaking of being yourself and just spreading that self love, what would you say is your favorite feature about yourself and why?"

Adaeze: "My skin and my mind. I came a long way with skincare. I used to feel ugly because of the pimples and dark marks. But now I love my skin. I do everything to take care of it & keep it up to standard. And I say my mind because it's very rare to meet someone who sees things from many perspectives. I'm very open minded, I like the way I think, and I wouldn't change that for anything."

Me: Okay so I think this pretty much sums up everything I wanted to ask. So, last but not least if you could leave the people with any words of encouragement, what would it be?"

Adaeze: "I'd definitely say be yourself and be kind. Period. Don't do anything that you wouldn't want done to yourself."

*end of interview*
